Oklahoma Equipment Connection

The Oklahoma Equipment Connection (OEC) is a free service provided by Oklahoma ABLE Tech to help Oklahomans with disabilities needing assistive technology to find affordable, used adaptive equipment to meet their needs.

What is assistive technology? Virtually anything that makes a task easier to complete can qualify as assistive technology. Wheelchairs, talking computers, long-handled reachers, and rubber jar openers are assistive technology. Assistive technology is typically defined as any item, product or piece of equipment that is used to maintain or improve the functional capabilities of individuals encountering some sort of limitation in their daily lives.

The OEC has two components: resale and recycle. Individuals wishing to sell used equipment can call to list their item. An updated list of resale items can be found on the ABLE Tech OEC (Oklahoma Equipment Connection) home page at www.oec.okstate.edu. Individuals wishing to buy used equipment can call 888/ 885-5588 and OEC will provide the name and phone number of the individual or agency wishing to sell the item.

Oklahoma ABLE Tech also has a list of several Oklahoma agencies that offer an assistive technology lending program. The lending program lists assistive technology that is donated or loaned by various Oklahoma state agencies. Individuals may borrow the equipment at no charge. Call Oklahoma ABLE Tech for information on the assistive technology lending program. To either buy, borrow, or sell used equipment or devices, call the toll free information line at 888/ 885-5599 V/TDD.
