P.A.L.S. (Practical Assisted Living Systems) is a group of volunteers who use their talents and expertise to handcraft or adapt toys and equipment to meet the unique needs of individuals. Although the recipients of the services are encouraged to reimburse P.A.L.S. for the cost of materials, there is never any charge for P.A.L.S. services.
P.A.L.S. meets at noon on the second Friday of each month at the Oklahoma Assistive Technology Center, 1600 N. Phillips, in Oklahoma City. Anyone is welcome to attend, especially teachers, therapists, social workers or parents, and to bring special problems to this group of technicians and engineers. Bring a brown bag lunch and share in the discussions and demonstrations.
P.A.L.S. also provides free consultation on the design and construction of devices, handouts with patterns and ideas, seminars, workshops and speakers. For more information, call Mel Nowland at 405/752-4241.
